Doug Brigham, LCSW
For more than 26 years, Doug Brigham has compassionately served as a full-time therapist. He has helped thousands of individuals and families struggling with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, career burnout, addiction, parenting, self-esteem, crisis intervention and life transitions.
Doug is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina and a psychology degree from the University of Vermont. Doug has worked in various human services settings including child residential treatment, therapeutic foster care, a private residential high school, student psychological services at UNC-Chapel Hill and Triangle Family Services.
Doug was previously a Licensed Employee Assistance Professional (LEAP) and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and previously served as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) providing assessments, recommendations and compliance documentation for individuals who were in violation of DOT substance use regulations. Doug has extensive experience as an employee assistance therapist and is uniquely familiar with the impact of workplace stress on a person’s mental health.
Doug is friendly, easy to talk to and carefully paces the counseling process. He is able to help people recognize their own ability to adapt, grow and bounce back from adversity and life’s challenges. Using a variety of interventions, Doug applies behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, problem-solving, and motivational interviewing techniques to best help his clients.
