Sheetal Jani, LCMHCA
Sheetal is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) who has attained her Master’s degree in counseling from North Carolina Central University. She is trained in Internal Family Systems (Level 1) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), from an EMDRIA-approved training program. She takes an eclectic approach in therapy drawing upon ego state therapy, EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy), mindfulness, somatic therapies, and relational-cultural therapy, among others, as part of the art of psychotherapy.
She believes in a mind/body/spirit approach to her work and seeks to empower her clients towards healing and wholeness. Her style is collaborative, strengths-based, and utilizes a social justice lens.
Growing up in a multicultural, multigenerational family, Sheetal understands the joys and complexities associated with such a dynamic. She is passionate about empowering clients to reimagine and give voice to the stories that reflect who they authentically are, especially in the face of social norms they may find limiting. She believes in supporting clients in cultivating their creativity as an adaptive strength for both facing life’s challenges and finding life’s joys. She has worked with diverse racial, gender, and sexual identities, and has supported individuals living with depression, anxiety, low self-worth, PTSD, physical and sexual abuse, grief, relationship challenges, and the unpredictability of life.
